Wage: $85,000 DOE
POSITION SUMMARY: The Controller will work with the CFO to manage the financial operations and grant management of the company. The Controller will have supervisory responsibilities over the accounting operations of the company.
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversees the operations of the Accounting Department, which include accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll reviews. This position does not directly manage the employees.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize financial and grant funding compliance risk.
- Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance.
- Works with the CFO to produce the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.
- Provides financial analysis.
- Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit.
- Assists the CFO in administering and managing the company’s various grants.
- Files quarterly and annual reports with grantors.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, and EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
- Four years or more of related experience required.
- Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred.
- Excellent management and supervisory skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient in financial reporting and analysis.
- Proficient in accounting and budgeting software.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Working in a standard office setting, operating standard office equipment.
- Ability to communicate via phone, email and in-person.
- Able to travel as needed.
