Summer Help
Must be 16 years or older.
Reports To: Groundskeeping Lead
Basic Function: Responsible for maintaining safe and attractive campus landscape and grounds.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Maintenance and maintain monastery lawn; including but not limited to mow, irrigate, edges, hand trim, fertilize, seed, and weed control.
2. Plants, prunes, waters and maintains campus trees and shrubs.
3. Maintains Cemetery grounds.
4. Completes seasonal tasks (leaf pick up, gutter cleaning, preparing flower beds and garden for planting).
Additional Duties:
1. Sweeps sidewalks, steps and colonnade.
2. Clean around trash dumpsites and collect trash around campus.
3. Assists in building maintenance when needed.
4. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Valid driver's license
Basic knowledge in grammar, spelling and simple mathematical functions.
Ability to operate grounds keeping equipment required.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Environment
- Outdoor environment subject to changing conditions and temperatures exceeding 90 degrees at times.
- Driving a vehicle and operating mobile motorized equipment to conduct work.
- Working on ladders at varying heights.
- Exposure to chemicals, fumes; noise from vehicle and equipment operation, dust, dirt, oil/grease, gases, and pollen.
- Working around machinery with moving parts.
- Subject to loud noises.
Physical Demands
- Sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time.
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 100 pounds.
- Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching.
- Repeated bending.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate grounds equipment and tools.
- Repetitive use of wrists and/or hands.
- Ability to maintain balance.
- Reaching overhead, horizontally and above the shoulders.
- Rapid mental/muscular coordination.
- Verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner.
- Accurate depth perception.
- Clarity of vision at varying distances to see small details and have color vision/distinguish shades.
