Immigration Clinic Receptionist
Position Summary: The Immigration Receptionist is responsible for providing support to the LIIC office staff, through the provision of receptionist duties and completion of the tasks outlined below. This person will work under the direction of the Director, facilitating the processing of all individuals who come to LIIC for support and services. This is a Full-Time position, Monday - Friday, 8 am - 4 pm. Occasional evening and/or weekend hours (i.e. for orientations/workshops/resource fairs) will be required. Position is Non-Exempt, $20 hourly.
Qualifications:
1. High school degree or additional higher education a plus.
2. 2 years' experience working in an office environment
3. Bi-lingual in Spanish required, bi-lingual Haitian Creole a plus.
4. Familiarity and ease with computer technology and navigating online databases.
5. Ability to interact well with diverse individuals and groups and possess cross-cultural sensitivity.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Acts as receptionist and is the first point of contact for persons seeking services of the Long Island Immigration Clinic.
2. Manages phone inquiries and walk-in clients; conducts screenings and reviews initial paperwork and accompanying documentation.
3. Assists Case Manager with downloading documents from WhatsApp phone and follow up with participants.
4. Assists with the compilation of completed applications for submission to the courts and USCIS.
5. Registers participants for monthly orientations and participates in orientation sessions upon request of the Program Manager.
6. Creates flyers and prepares materials for the promotion of LIIC activities.
7. Assists in creating social media posts for the purpose of publicizing the activities and events of LIIC
8. Assists in the preparation, registration and coordination of workshops for participants.
9. Updates participant trackers with case information, court dates, etc. and assists with data collection and statistical reports.
10. Attends resource fairs and performs outreach activities when needed.
11. Attends weekly staff meetings.
12. Additional administrative and clerical tasks as needed by the Director - i.e. grant submissions and reports.
