We're looking for an enthusiastic and highly skilled Accounting Specialist that provides support as a member of the SSMO Ministries Corporation finance team. The duties to include Payroll Based Journaling, accounts payable, and accounting administration functions.

Job Responsibilities:
- Assist and at times lead the processing of payroll on a semi-monthly schedule.
- Assist with employee payroll reconciliation to benefits and ledgers
- Maintain records to support Payroll Based Journal and other regulatory reporting ensuring transactions are properly documented and approved
- Receive, process, verify and reconcile invoices to ensure accuracy and compliance with policies
- Support contract employee processing by assuring compliance with contract terms and regulation.
- Data Blending (collect and combine data from multiple sources) to create ad hoc reports for rapid analysis as well as retrieving information from other systems and preparing in a format that can be loaded into the payroll system.
- Maintain and create ad hoc reports
- Processes and maintains documentation
- Interact with customers both internal and external
- Reconcile monthly billing

Qualifications:
- Knowledge of payroll accounting including federal, state, and local tax laws
- Familiar with employee garnishment rules, final pay laws, and other aspects for payroll
- Strong data analysis and spreadsheet management skills using MS Excel (sum if, VLookup, pivot tables, date functions, etc.)
- Basic understanding of bookkeeping practices and procedures
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to type 30 words per minute
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
- Experience with accounting software
- Interpersonal skills
Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent required, with some bookkeeping coursework. Associates degree preferred
- One year of related experience
- Experience working with non-profit or healthcare industry highly preferred
Physical requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
