Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Superintendent to oversee and manage electrical installations for commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, extensive electrical expertise, and the ability to coordinate and supervise field operations to ensure quality, safety, and timely completion of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management & Supervision
- Oversee all electrical construction activities, ensuring work is completed according to project specifications, codes, and safety regulations.
- Coordinate and manage the workflow of electrical teams, subcontractors, and suppliers on-site.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other construction professionals to resolve issues and ensure efficiency.
Electrical Layout & Installation
- Perform layout work for electrical systems, ensuring accurate placement of conduits, panels, outlets, lighting, and other electrical components.
- Interpret and mark up blueprints, drawings, and schematics for proper installation by crews.
- Verify measurements and alignment to ensure compliance with design and code requirements.
- Assist in problem-solving during the installation process to address unforeseen layout challenges.
Quality Control & Compliance
- Inspect electrical installations to ensure compliance with local, state, and national electrical codes (NEC) and company standards.
- Identify and resolve potential issues before they impact the project timeline or budget.
- Ensure all work is performed safely and efficiently while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
Safety & Risk Management
- Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
- Conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, and on-site training for field personnel.
- Investigate and document any accidents or near-miss incidents, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
Material & Resource Management
- Coordinate the procurement, delivery, and inventory of electrical materials and equipment.
- Monitor material usage and minimize waste to keep the project within budget.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of electrical components and hazardous materials.
Leadership & Team Development
- Train, mentor, and evaluate electrical field personnel to enhance team performance.
- Foster a collaborative and productive work environment among electricians, apprentices, and subcontractors.
- Address conflicts and performance issues professionally and effectively.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school education is preferred.
- Journeyman or Master Electrician license (as required by the state or local jurisdiction).
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in commercial electrical construction, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, blueprints, schematics, and NEC codes.
- Proficiency in project scheduling software and construction management tools is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various job sites as needed.
