The SIU School of Dental Medicine in Alton, IL seeks full-time qualified Dental Clinic Clerk II candidates to support phone calls, prepare & maintain electronic patient charts, and assist faculty in providing effective and efficient patient care at the School of Dental Medicine.
The SIU School of Dental Medicine provides a range of treatments, cutting-edge dental therapy, and individualized care in a modern and relaxed setting.
What You Will Do
- Answers, screens, and routes telephone inquiries from patients to handle messages, transfer calls or locates party via public address system
- Assist Team Leaders in ensuring that all patients are actively being treated, transferred, placed on recall or inactivated by performing computer entries as directed
- Schedule emergency, screening, consult appointments for student, faculty, residents, and patients
- Provides, relays, and retrieves information to assist students, dentists, Team Leaders and faculty for patient management
- Utilizes clinical information system, kiosks, reports, and databases needed to manage patient care, student, faculty, and clinical needs
- Prepare, maintain, control distribution, retrieve, and file electronic patient charts
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
- High school graduation or equivalent
- One year (12 months) of experience:
- Comparable to that performed at the Dental Clinic Clerk I (https://www.sucss.illinois.gov/pages/classspec/ViewSeries.aspx?tblCS_SeriesID=103) level of this series
- OR
- Certified Dental Assistant in a dental clinic facility, program, or in dentistry practice, if required by employing institution
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
· High degree of people skills
· Ability to effectively communicate in person and via phone to work harmoniously with patients, parents, staff, students, and faculty
· Experience with basic business software with the ability to enter data utilizing spreadsheets and databases
· Knowledge of dentistry, terminology, and practice is preferred

Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, candidates must be a current Illinois resident.
