Job Description :
The Cook (Prep / Line) at Sizzler plays a crucial role in ensuring the consistent preparation of menu items according to company standards. They are responsible for following recipes to prepare and cook a variety of foods, contributing to the overall success of the kitchen operation.
Responsibilities :
1. Consistently prepare menu items in accordance with Sizzler's specifications and recipes.
2. Follow recipe guidelines to prepare and cook meats, fish, poultry, soups, vegetables, and other food items using proper cooking methods.
3. Perform tasks such as cutting, broiling, sautéing, and frying as required.
4. Practice safe food handling and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen at all times.
5. Prepare food prep and production recipes as outlined in the Sizzler recipe book.
6. Unpack and organize received goods efficiently.
7. Utilize cleaning chemicals safely while wearing appropriate protective gear.
8. Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, ensuring quality and accuracy in food preparation.
9. Maintain a high level of productivity and intensity throughout the shift.
10. Demonstrate strong menu knowledge and effectively coordinate with kitchen staff.
11. Accurately read, organize, and coordinate tickets to ensure timely order fulfillment.
12. Communicate effectively with team members to ensure guest satisfaction.
13. Adhere to schedule and arrive punctually for shifts.
14. Collaborate effectively with coworkers in a team-oriented environment.
Physical Effort :
1. Lift objects weighing up to 10lbs constantly, and up to 50lbs infrequently.
2. Perform lifting from floor to shoulder constantly and overhead infrequently.
3. Handle cleaning chemicals safely.
4. Maintain color and depth perception for vision, with both near and far vision required.
5. Frequently twist and reach while performing duties.
6. Constantly grasp objects to move or manipulate them.
7. Stand and walk for extended periods.
8. Listen to and comprehend instructions from managers and coworkers over restaurant noise.
9. Frequent hand washing required.
Qualifications :
1. High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
2. Previous experience in a similar role preferred.
3. Food Handlers Certification required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
1. Minimum of 2 years of related experience preferred.
2. Strong understanding of restaurant practices and procedures.
3. Excellent interpersonal skills.
4. Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Equipment :
Kitchen equipment, knives, dish machine, garbage cans, ice buckets, food products, cleaning products.
Must wear personal protective equipment as required by Sizzler and mandated by local Health and Safety Departments.
Work Environment :
Typical restaurant environment with varying temperatures.
