SJS Executives, LLC (SJS), also doing business as SJS Industrial, is currently seeking a Biosafety Cabinet/Fume Hood Technician supporting possible operations within local federal medical facilities in Brooklyn and Manhattan, New York.

Responsibilities:
- Perform services which will include filter replacement, repairs of the sash, motor, belts, fan unit, electrical connections, checking for proper calibration of existing self-monitoring devices.
- Perform annual testing, certification, and preventive maintenance on biological safety cabinets (BSCs) and chemical fume hoods in compliance with NSF/ANSI 49, OSHA, and AIHA/ANSI Z9.5-2003 standards.
- Conduct inflow velocity profiling, face velocity testing (ASHRAE 110 methodology), and HEPA filter performance checks.
- Ensure proper calibration of self-monitoring devices and equipment instrumentation.
- Install high-visibility “Out of Service” notifications on non-compliant units; work with COR to coordinate remediation.
- Document all certifications, including velocity readings and equipment status, and affix appropriate service labels on certified equipment.
- Identify and address contamination risks in alignment with best practices in Industrial Hygiene.
- Coordinate closely with the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) and VA facilities management to schedule testing and maintenance activities.
- Ensure accurate, timely reporting and adherence to safety and industrial hygiene regulations.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge and experience working with ANSI/AIHA Z9.5-2003, American National Standards for Laboratory Ventilation.
- Certification as an NSF International Biosafety Cabinet Field Certifier (Required).
- Must be able to successfully pass a drug test and a thorough background check for access onto a military installation; please note the background check for this position extends past 7 years, in conformance with federal law and US Department of Justice guidelines for work on a military installation.
