Responsible for ordering, receiving, stocking and distributing patient care supplies and instrumentation at Skagit Valley Hospital Surgical Services Department in accordance with established guidelines. Works effectively and cooperatively within the workplace. Location/Department specific tasks and competencies may apply.
Essential Functions
Maintain integrity of supply inventory through appropriate monitoring, verification, rotation and discard measures. Resolve supply shortage issues through established procedures. Monitor outdated, damaged and overstocked materials and supplies. Reconcile as needed through appropriate procedure. Order, receive and stock supply inventory to support surgery case carts accurately, in a timely manner per established par levels. Operate all assigned equipment per manufacturer guidelines and departmental policies and procedures. Participate in annual inventory count per established policies and procedures. Pick supplies utilizing appropriate means in an accurate and timely manner. Track and update stock and donated supply information in MMIS. Maintain, review and update item dictionary counts in an accurate and timely manner per department policies and procedures. Assist in maintaining effective supply and order information. Processes inventory reports accurately as required. Maintain ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office (Outlook) and department specific software applications to perform work. Communicate effectively and cooperatively in the workplace. Actively contribute to the achievement of Quality Improvement and Lean Process Improvement activities. Complete all mandatory learning requirements in a timely manner. Maintain current licensure and/or certification as required. Attend and actively participate in all department, team and/or committee meetings.
Shift rotation between Skagit Valley Hospital Surgical Departments which includes Skagit Valley Hospital and Mount Vernon Surgery Center locations required.
Communicate effectively, cooperatively, and respectfully in the workplace.
Comply with all Skagit Regional Health, department and location specific policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor or designee.
Education
High School graduate or GED required.
Experience/Training
Minimum one (1) year previous healthcare stock management experience required.
License/Certifications
None required.
Other Skills
Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills required. Must be able to effectively utilize Microsoft Office applications to perform work. Well-developed problem solving and analytical skills required. Must be able to effectively prioritize workload amongst frequent interruptions with competing priorities. Knowledge of central distribution and sterile processing supplies. Ability to coordinate work schedule with requirements of position (may include overtime and weekend work).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must occasionally lift or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
