Position Summary

The Opportunity: The position will assist with the daily operations of the front desk. Additionally, this position will support Open Doors students academically who are pursuing their high school diploma. The coordinator position will work closely with both the front desk staff and the Open Doors advising team, faculty, and student services staff. This position is a full-time 12-month classified position, working 40 hours per week. The incumbent will work Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day. This position reports to the Associate Dean of Student Support Programs.

The Location: Skagit Valley College is on the traditional and unceded territories of the Coast Salish People’s, especially on Swinomish Indian Tribal Community, Upper Skagit Indian Tribe, Samish Indian Nation, Nooksack Indian Tribe, and Sauk-Suiattle Indian Tribe. Located in a geographically diverse region between the dynamic metropolitan hubs of Seattle and Vancouver, BC, SVC is never far from world-class outdoor recreation, urban arts scenes, and local cultural events. Duties and Responsibilities

Open Doors Academic Support

  • Supervise Open Doors Program support sessions for students in high school subject areas, such as English Language Acquisition, Mathematics, Science, Arts, and GED Prep;
  • Support students in activating and navigating platforms, such as Canvas, student emails, GED prep, etc.;
  • Foster an environment where students can develop personalized study strategies and approaches, offering support and resources;
  • Fill in learning techniques or knowledge gaps to improve students' academic performance.


Front Desk Coordinator

  • Provide front desk coverage during office hours, answering phones and greeting students;
  • Support students in activating and navigating platforms, such as Canvas, student emails, GED prep, etc.;
  • Foster an environment where students can develop personalized study strategies and approaches, offering support and resources;
  • Fill in learning techniques or knowledge gaps to improve students' academic performance.

Open Doors Programmatic Support

  • Provide support in scheduling quarterly assessments, such as CASAS, for Open Doors students;
  • Assist in the work of New Student Registration, Commencement, and other campus-wide events that benefit and support Open Doors students;
  • Collaborate with staff to improve services to students and increase efficiencies in the department;
  • Provide support and referral to college supportive services and community agencies.

Front Desk Programmatic Support

  • Assist in the work of New Student Registration, Commencement, and other campus-wide events;
  • Collaborate with staff to improve services to students and increase efficiencies in the department;
  • Provide support and referral to college supportive services and community agencies.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or combination of equivalent education and experience;
  • Two (2) years of clerical experience;
  • Experience working with multicultural or low-income students;
  • Experience using Microsoft platforms to track information.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree in Psychology, Human Services, Social Services, Education, or related field;
  • Experience assisting with projects and tracking mechanisms;
  • Prior experience working in a community college environment, particularly Student Services;
  • Experience with ctcLink and TargetX systems, or similar CRM platform experience;
  • Bilingual – English & Spanish, English & Russian, or English & Ukrainian.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Salary is based on Range 37, Step A, $3,239 per month with periodic increments to $4,194 per month. Starting salary may be dependent on education, qualifications, and experience. Salary and benefits are subject to change in accordance with legislative mandates and collective bargaining agreements.
  • This position is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act and is dependent upon continued grant funding.
  • This is a union-represented position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
