The Opportunity: Student Success Coordinator will serve a critical role in student recruitment and retention by supporting students through their multifaceted dental therapy educational journey, focusing on enhancing student success, financial aid navigation, completion of program requirements, and access to student services. Duties and Responsibilities
Student Liaison
- Provide ongoing support for dental therapy students, including program navigation, coaching, and addressing personal or academic challenges to ensure student success;
- Connect with SVC student services and financial aid in order to provide information sharing with students and faculty;
- Assist with student advising: clinical enrollment, tracking, and completion of program requirements (portfolio, competencies, community rotations, and preceptorship);
- Partner closely with the financial aid team to assist in planning, advising, and awarding of financial aid.
- Ensure students have access to academic resources, such as tutoring, study groups, and supplemental materials;
- Assist with coordination of preceptorship sites, community rotation sites, and supervising dentists to complete CAA’s and other items as required by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
- Recruitment of dental therapy applicants (informational sessions) and retention of dental therapy students;
- Coordinate new student orientations, helping them integrate into the academic environment and dental therapy program.
- Monitor student progress regarding clinical experiences and competencies and provide feedback, working closely with faculty to identify and address any academic or behavioral concerns. Assist students with completing program requirements (portfolio, competencies, preceptorship).
- Plan and coordinate student engagement events, and academic transitions;
- First year (welcome ceremony), Second year (Blanket Ceremony), Third year, (Graduation), and support for students to successfully complete their community rotations, preceptorships, and board exams.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge and/or understanding of:
- Knowledge of dental lab procedures and materials;
- Passion for supporting student success and fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment;
- Proficiency in office software (Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace) and lab management software;
- Understanding of student success strategies and program advising;
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and other privacy laws in a healthcare setting.
- Problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing deadlines;
- Strong interpersonal skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor;
- Must have critical thinking skills and be able to follow instructions/directions;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment;
- Ability to manage and resolve conflicts or challenges as they arise;
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities;
- Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and administrative staff;

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field (e.g., dental assisting, healthcare administration, education);
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a dental office or student services;
OR
A combination of education and experience.
- Transportation to drive to dental clinics.
Preferred Qualifications
- A dental-related certification or degree;
- Experience in an educational setting is preferred.

Salary and Benefits:
- Annual salary rate for this twelve-month, 100% full-time position is $55,000 - $65,000 annually depending on experience;
- Contracts are written annually for the period of July 1 to June 30. This position will be filled as soon as practical after a candidate is identified and the salary will be pro-rated for the remaining contract period.
- This position is exempt from civil service. This position is eligible for overtime.
