What are the responsibilities and job description for the Carpentry - Building Construction 8 position at Skilled Trades of West Alabama?
THIS TRAINING IS ONLY FOR THOSE SEEKING A CAREER & FULL TIME EMPLOYMENT IN THE CARPENTRY TRADE.
Classes meet on Monday & Tuesday....5pm - 8pm for 12 weeks beginning Feb. 24th.
Must attend orientation on Monday, Feb. 24, 2025 at 5:00 pm for acceptance to training.
Eligibility requirements:
1. age 18 - 24
2. eligible to work in the U.S.
3. ability to pass drug screen and background check
4. valid driver’s license and clean driving record
5 . High school diploma or GED
Tuition: $125
In-person interviews & assessment required for acceptance into training.
This course is an introduction to the Building Construction/Carpentry trade and its application as a career in the construction industry.
Building materials and construction methods are thoroughly covered in a classroom and shop setting.
This course also has a hands-on component that applies classroom curriculum to assigned shop projects.
Subjects taught:
- Job site safety
- Construction industry terminology and practices
- Construction math and measurements
- Hand and power tool use and safety
- Reading and interpretation of building plans and blueprints, applicable building codes, and building layouts.
- Framing and finish work
- Collaboration with other trades involved on a job site
Training is in Tuscaloosa, Alabama...........Skilled Trades does not pay lodging expenses.
