We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy civil construction and will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for projects. Candidate should be knowledgeable of all aspects of estimating public and private projects, state and federal government.
Candidate must have knowledge of Preliminary Plan Design, Estimating/Bidding (all trades and venders), Product Selection, Contract Specifications, Scope of Work, Plan Development Oversight, Contract Development and Negotiation.
Candidate will play a critical role in project planning and execution by providing detailed cost analysis and budget management in addition have strong team leadership skills to develop, guide, and motivate estimating team.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include:
- Review project plans, specifications, and other documents to develop comprehensive cost estimates.
- Examine and thoroughly understand plans and specifications, detect inconsistencies and errors.
- Create RFI’s and perform Take-Off’s
- Conduct site visits and assessments to gather essential information for accurate estimations.
- Prepare detailed cost breakdowns for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Analyze historical data, labor productivity, material costs, and other factors to prepare precise estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on project scope and budget.
- Create comprehensive bid packages for subcontractors and venders.
- Solicit and review bids from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing and quality.
- Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and recommend value engineering solutions.
- Prepare and present bid proposals to clients and stakeholders.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, construction methods, and cost data.
- Assist in project scheduling and resource allocation based on cost estimates.
- Ensure all estimates comply with company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
Qualifications
Candidates must possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Civil Environmental or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 - 15 years of experience as an Estimator in heavy civil construction.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry practices.
- Be thorough in calculations of cost.
- Proficient in using estimating software and tools, such as Bid2Win, AGTEK, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar.
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
- Strong computer skills, including Bid2Win, AGTEK
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
