Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Medical Assistant Instructor to join our Skilltrade team in Detroit. As a Medical Assistant Instructor, you will provide high-quality instruction, foster a positive learning environment, and prepare students for successful careers in healthcare.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction and Curriculum Delivery:
o Teach courses related to medical assisting, including but not limited to anatomy & physiology, medical office procedures, patient care, clinical procedures, and medical terminology.
o Deliver content in accordance with approved curriculum and ensure educational goals are met.
o Utilize a variety of teaching methods, including lectures, hands-on demonstrations, and practical exercises, to engage students.
Student Support and Engagement:
o Provide academic guidance and support to students.
o Encourage a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters student success.
o Offer feedback on assignments and monitor student progress.
Classroom Management:
o Maintain a professional and respectful classroom atmosphere.
o Ensure that students comply with health and safety protocols during clinical labs and hands-on exercises.
Assessments and Evaluation:
o Administer and grade practical assessments.
o Provide constructive feedback to students on their performance and help them improve.
Collaboration and Communication:
o Collaborate with the program director and other faculty to ensure the smooth operation of the program.
o Participate in faculty meetings, training, and development opportunities.
Administrative Duties:
o Maintain accurate student records, including attendance and grading.
o Ensure compliance with institutional and accreditation standards.
Qualifications:
Education:
o Current Medical Assisting Certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) is required or a related field certificate completion.
o CPR certification is preferred.
Experience:
o Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a medical assisting role.
o Prior teaching experience in a medical assistant program or a related field is a plus.
o Experience working with diverse student populations is preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
o Strong knowledge of medical assisting procedures, medical office operations, and patient care.
o Ability to effectively communicate complex medical concepts to students with varying levels of experience.
o Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate students.
o Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and basic learning management systems (LMS).
Licensing/Certification:
o Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through a recognized certifying body is required.
o CPR/First Aid certification is preferred.
