We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Radiation Therapist to join our team at SkinCure Oncology. As a Radiation Therapist, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality superficial radiotherapy solutions for dermatologists and their patients.
About the Role:
You will be responsible for administering prescribed doses of radiation to specific body parts, using radiation therapy equipment according to established practices and standards. You will work closely with our team of dedicated professionals to deliver exceptional patient care and ensure the highest level of quality and safety.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:
- Administering prescribed doses of radiation to specific body parts
- Positioning patients for treatment with accuracy according to prescription
- Entering data into computer and setting controls to operate and adjust equipment and regulate dosage
- Maintaining records, reports, and files as required, including such information as radiation dosages, equipment settings, and patients' reactions
- Reviewing prescription, diagnosis, patient chart, and identification
- Conducting most treatment sessions independently, in accordance with the long-term treatment plan and under the general direction of the patient's physician
- Checking radiation therapy equipment to ensure proper operation
- Observing and reassuring patients during treatment and reporting unusual reactions to physician or turning equipment off if unexpected adverse reactions occur
- Checking for side effects such as skin irritation and hair loss to assess patients' reaction to treatment
- Educating, preparing, and reassuring patients and their families by answering questions, providing physical assistance, and reinforcing physicians' advice regarding treatment reactions and post-treatment care
- Calculating actual treatment dosages delivered during each session
- Preparing and constructing equipment, such as immobilization, treatment, and protection devices
- Photographing treated area of patient
- Helping physicians, radiation oncologists, and clinical physicists to prepare physical and technical aspects of radiation treatment plans, using information about patient condition and anatomy
- Training and supervising student or subordinate radiotherapy technologists
- Acting as liaison with physicist and supportive care personnel
- Providing assistance to other healthcare personnel during dosimetry procedures and tumor localization
- Implementing appropriate follow-up care plans
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a Graduate of an accredited program, ARRT Board Certification in Radiation Therapy, R.T.(T), or registry eligible within 3 months, and State licensure (if applicable).
