Skowhegan Savings Bank seeks an individual to join our Sales team as VP, Business Development Officer. This position will be located out of our Portland branch.
Position Summary:
The Vice President, Business Development Officer is responsible for acquiring, retaining, and expanding customer relationships while promoting the bank’s image in the assigned service area. This role focuses on growing business banking relationships by generating referrals for loans, deposits, and cash management services, as well as cross-selling other consumer banking services.
As a highly visible presence in the service area, this individual will attend business networking events and act as the "eyes and ears" for the bank. They will deliver exceptional customer service by overseeing the entire customer experience for prospects and existing customers—starting with their introduction to the bank, assessing their banking and borrowing needs, recommending suitable products and services, and connecting them with the right business area for further assistance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, guidance and foster a team sales approach with the Business Cash Management team, Commercial Lenders, Community Bankers, and Branch network within the market to provide a high level of customer experience to meet the expectations of our customers.
- Develop a Business Development Plan to drive sales goals to grow new and existing customer relationships through consistent and focused outreach activities.
- Manages business relationships in the assigned market and works with existing business customers to introduce products and services.
- Provide support to residential and business customers to answer questions and resolve any service issues that may arise.
- Makes presentations on financial, deposit and loan services to groups to attract new clients.
- Develop commercial loan prospects from current customers, referral leads, and other sources to include both Commercial & Industrial, Commercial Real Estate and Construction Financing loans. Makes calls with other bank personnel while reciprocating referrals back to each line of service.
- Responsible for meeting or exceeding established team sales goals and targets.
- Collaborate with Marketing Team on new promotions and campaigns to support growth.
- Provides feedback and input into the bank’s products and pricing to assure the bank is meeting customer needs.
- Tracks sales outreach efforts through our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software.
- Attends various functions/networking opportunities to enhance the image of the bank in the assigned market to develop business networks.
- Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience and 3-5 years of experience in Business Development/Sales
- Experience in banking sales preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of deposit products sales and customer service.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and retain new and profitable relationships in a highly competitive environment.
- Excellent business development skills required.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Strong leadership and team building skills.
- Outstanding community involvement.
- Preferred knowledge of business deposit products, business services, commercial and residential lending.
- Must have excellent organizational, management, communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong analytic and critical thinking skills.
- Proficient computer skills in MS Office Suite
- Ability to travel within the Bank’s footprint; 50% or more.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Working Conditions:
- General office environment with travel expectations of at least 50%
- Physical surroundings are generally pleasant and comfortable
- Moderate lifting (to 35 lbs.) required. Moderate reaching, walking, sitting and standing required.
