What are the responsibilities and job description for the Compliance/Safety Officer position at Sky Ute Casino Resort?
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the General Manager, this position assists in monitoring that the Casino departments conduct their operations in compliance with the Internal Control Minimum Procedures (ICMP) as prescribed by the Southern Ute Division of Gaming (SUDOG) and the Casino Policies and Procedures. Assists with ensuring that the Casino is in compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act, and any applicable health and safety standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Assists with the monitoring of all gaming and non-gaming operations to ensure compliance with the existing internal control regulations associated with the ICMP or any other Internal Violations. Provides prompt follow up of the violations.
2. Interacts professionally with SUDOG officials, Casino management and as well as outside Tribal entities.
3. Participates in investigation into reported ICMP violations from inception to final resolution.
4. Discloses findings and resolutions in written form to management and gaming officials.
5. Assists in coordinating the gaming and/or non-gaming compliance meetings between SUDOG and Casino management, including Title 31 on a monthly basis.
6. Ensures adherence and ongoing testing of Title 31 compliance program.
7. Ensures that preparations of all required Title 31 documentation have taken place.
8. Assists in preparing manual or automated transaction records related to Title 31.
9. Assists in preparing and filing reports specific to currency transaction mandates.
10. Maintains working knowledge of FINCEN forms 103 and currency transaction logs.
11. Assists in processing all paperwork associated with company policy violations generated by the Accounting department and provide prompt follow up with the department managers. Reports any violations and discloses findings and resolution of violations to management.
12. Monitors compliance to applicable health and safety standards.
13. Assists in performing weekly Safety and Building Inspections of the Casino property.
14. Coordinates application preparation for the Casino and Bingo Hall’s gaming facility licenses and develops departmental safety training on proper safety techniques, as appropriate.
15. Works in conjunction with the Tribal Risk Management department.
16. Assists in reviewing and analysis of accident reports for safety concerns. Develops and prepares the monthly and yearly accident recaps for the Casino management.
17. Assists in providing annual training classes to all employees on evacuation, bomb threat, emergency lockdown, fire extinguisher and robbery procedures, TIPS training, and CPR training.
18. Works on special projects as assigned by the General Manager or Casino management.
19. Operates property vehicles as directed to do so.
20. Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
· Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
· Must have five (5) years minimum experience in Regulatory Compliance or related field.
· Must have at least 1 year of experience in the Gaming related field.
· Must acquire First Aid/CPR training within the first year of employment.
· Must have a valid driver’s license and must be insurable with the Southern Ute Indian Tribe.
· Must demonstrate ability as an excellent organizer, detailed and good public speaker at ease moderating small to medium groups.
· Must demonstrate ability as an excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication and multi-tasking skills.
· Must show proficient computer skills in current Microsoft Windows applications.
· Must be available to work all shifts including weekends and holidays.
· Must have excellent attendance.
· Must be able to maintain open communication with fellow employees to ensure effective work relationships.
· Must be able to maintain a good working knowledge of various property policies and procedures in order to effectively assist co-workers in their day-to-day duties.
· Must be able to act in a friendly and professional manner.
· Must be able to ensure a safe and comfortable environment in the Casino.
· Must possess patience, tact, and courtesy to effectively deal with customers and staff.
· Must possess good writing skills to prepare detailed incident reports.
· Must have good public relation skills to provide prompt and courteous service to customers.

· Must possess good decision-making skills to analyze facts, weigh alternatives and determine appropriate course of action.
· Must take an intoxication class in determining if a customer is intoxicated and the legal ramifications per Southern Ute Indian Tribal Division of Gaming (Code).
· Must always remain sensitive to cultural diversity in the workplace.
· Must maintain strict confidentiality at all times, including personnel data, gaming regulations and compliance.
REASONING ABILITY:
· Must have knowledge and understand internal controls.
· Must have knowledge of all departmental and Casino policies and procedures.
· Must have knowledge of drug and alcohol, zero-tolerance policy and procedure.
· Must have knowledge of fire, lock-down evacuation policy and procedure.
· Must have knowledge of robbery conduct, hostage situation conducts and closing off a crime scene.
· Must have knowledge of sexual harassment policy, training, and implementation in the workplace.
· Must have knowledge of weapon lockup procedures for knives and guns.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
· Ability to lift, move and carry heavy objects (50 – 100 lbs.)
· Ability to stand and walk for an eight-hour shift.
· Must be able to reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, bend, stoop and reach for equipment.
· Ability to see, hear and speak well enough to read printed documentation and converse with customers and co-workers on an individual basis. Must have body movement and mobility to restrain or assist in restraining customers or employees.
· Ability to bend, stoop and reach for equipment (i.e. boxes, keys and radios).
· Must have use of arms, hands and fingers to write reports and grasp items.
· Must have ability to frequently patrol building, grounds and parking lots on foot.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
· Must be able to work with exposure to a smoke-filled environment.
· Must be able to constantly work under close surveillance cameras.
· Must be able to work in a noisy and crowded environment.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
· Potential candidates selected for employment will be subject to Pre-employment drug test, employment reference and background check.
· Must sign confidentiality agreement.
· Must obtain and maintain a Southern Ute Division of Gaming Key License.
· Must comply fully with all Sky Ute Casino Resort’s policies, Gaming Code regulations, and any applicable policies and regulations set forth by the Casino Resort.
