Job Summary: The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) will provide direct support and care to individuals receiving treatment for mental health and substance use disorders in a structured, therapeutic environment. This position plays a vital role in assisting clients with day-to-day activities, monitoring their progress, and contributing to their overall treatment plan under the supervision of licensed clinical staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist clients in daily activities, including personal care, hygiene, and medication management.
Provide one-on-one and group support to individuals dealing with mental health and substance use issues.
Monitor and document patient behaviors, emotional responses, and progress towards treatment goals.
Implement and follow treatment plans as prescribed by clinical staff, including monitoring for safety and well-being.
Facilitate group therapy sessions or activities, including coping skills development, relaxation techniques, and stress management.
Report observations, concerns, and progress to case managers, therapists, and physicians.
Ensure clients adhere to facility rules, regulations, and treatment protocols.
Respond to crisis situations and manage de-escalation techniques when necessary.
Assist in the implementation of therapeutic interventions and provide encouragement to clients during their recovery process.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations and facility guidelines.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or related field preferred.
Previous experience in a behavioral health, mental health, or substance abuse treatment setting preferred.
Knowledge of mental health and substance use disorders, including signs, symptoms, and treatment modalities.
Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and those in recovery.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
CPR and First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Must pass background check and drug screening.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to assist clients with mobility and basic activities of daily living as needed.
Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods and work in an active environment.
