This position is Day Shift Monday - Thursday. Fridays off.
Our Healthy Families program is searching for a Family Support Specialist (FSS) to provide home-visiting services in Orange county. Healthy Families is a national program that works with families, with challenges, that place their child/children at-risk for positive outcomes. We offer extensive training to help promote positive parent-child interactions, attachment, and bonding. Our curriculum provides activities to help improve parenting skills, access and promote child development and encourage health and safety for the family. We work with other organizations who can provide services that help our families with day-to-day issues as well as guiding them toward achieving their goals.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to establish rapport and gain confidence, getting the willing cooperation of those who voluntarily participate in the program. It is not uncommon for your caseload to include those who have navigated issues of substance abuse, intimate partner abuse, adverse childhood experiences, food and/or housing insecurity, unemployment, underemployment, or mental health issues. The ideal candidate will have expressed an interest in working with children or families through prior employment or volunteer service. Should have direct experience working with children and families, particularly with at-risk population. Should also have strong oral, written and computer skills.
This is a FT position, working 35 hours a week. Benefits include paid holidays, annual and sick leave. The hourly rate is $17.00 - $21.00 per hour. An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field such as social work/child development is preferred. A high school diploma, valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation are required.
