Maintenance Assistant

Summary: Maintenance Assistant is responsible for helping to maintain overall cleanliness, safety and function of the community.

Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Walk through community (including parking area) at beginningand end of shift to monitor general condition and tidiness ofenvironment; 2. Report to Director each morning to get a list of daily tasks; 3. Help maintain all areas of the community; 4. Repair drywall and touch-up paint as needed; 5. Paint walls when necessary; 6. Repair/replace blinds when necessary; 7. Repair landscaping equipment; 7. Repair bathroom/kitchen fixtures and plumbing as needed; 8. Clean light fixtures on exterior and interior ofthe building; 9. Clean roof gutters twice a year and make any necessary repairs; 10. Changelightbulbs on exterior andinterior common areasofthe building; 11. Clean floorsin the common areas, kitchen, dining, and the laundry rooms; 12. Remove lint from dryer filters and clean behind dryers. Check dryer vents for clogs and schedule duct cleaning twice a year; 13. Othertasksorresponsibilities asassignedby anymemberofmanagement; 14. When not performing maintenance duties, then assist with housekeeping duties;

Job Qualifications: 1. Must have experience in handyman or in basic building maintenance 2. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position; 3. Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met; 4. Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with the residents, coworkers and others; 5. Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability; 6. Must be able to relate with sensitivity to and work with ill, disabled, and elderly; 7. Must be able to assist in the evacuation of the residents; 8. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day with sitting, standing, bending, and lifting; 9. Must have a current and valid driver’s license; 10. Must be able to speak, read and write the English language in an understandable manner.

Universal Precautions: Exposure to blood/bodily fluids is not likely.

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The team member is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit for long periods of time. The team member is occasionally required to climb to heights of 30 feet, or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The team member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
