Role Description

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Motion Picture Scanner to ensure high-quality digitization of various types of film media. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, technical proficiency, and an understanding of film preservation. The role will involve scanning, editing, and preparing film materials for digital formats, ensuring that the quality and integrity of the original content are maintained.


Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain film scanning equipment to digitize a variety of film formats (e.g., 8mm, 16mm, 35mm, etc.) into high-quality digital files.
  • Inspect and prepare films for scanning, ensuring they are in good condition and free of dust or damage.
  • Monitor the scanning process to ensure optimal image quality, adjusting settings as needed.
  • Perform quality checks on scanned films to ensure they meet industry standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues that arise during the scanning process.
  • Maintain accurate records of each project, including film format, scanning settings, and final output specifications.
  • Keep film scanning equipment clean and properly maintained.


Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with film scanning or digital preservation.
  • Familiarity with various film formats and scanning techniques.
  • Proficiency with film scanning software and hardware.
  • Strong attention to detail and an ability to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Ability to handle and work with delicate or vintage films with care.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of color correction and film restoration techniques is a plus.
