Description of Job
A Skywriter is an extension of the Veterinarian clinic, aiding in navigation of the documentation process. We are looking for part-time or full-time staff. This position is for a Remote Veterinary Scribe who will work from their own home office.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist the provider in navigating the documentation system
- Respond to various tasks as directed by the provider
- Locate information for review (i.e., previous notes, reports, test results, and laboratory results)
- Enter information into the documentation system as directed by the provider
- Research information requested by the provider
- Ability to utilize multiple software platforms simultaneously, including Office 365 and the Skywriter MD application

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:
- Work in an office environment, primarily on a computer using headphones.
- Experience prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person/virtual meetings, typing, and working with papers/files.
- Communicate effectively with co-workers and customers.
- Use hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, telephone, and other office equipment is required.
- Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.
Qualifications
- At least 18 years old.
- Enrolled in pre-vet or one year of experience as a veterinary technician.
- Veterinary terminology, basic anatomy, medical tests, systems review, and common medications knowledge is helpful.
- Proficient in English; fluency in secondary languages is valued as well
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong computer skills, ability to use multiple programs/apps simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to problem solve under pressure.
- Ability to actively listen.
- Keyboard proficiency (approximately 45 words/minute).
- Understanding of clinical documentation (SOAP); ability to document clinical assessment and plan in an EHR
- Proficient/one year of experience in at least one major EHR platform (such as Avimark, EzyVet, WOOFWare, etc.)
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Ability to effectively coordinate multiple projects and clients.
- Ability to communicate and interact professionally with others.
