The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a crucial role in providing assistance and support to individuals with disabilities, including those on the autism spectrum. Responsibilities
- Provide personal care and assistance with daily living activities, including bathing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Support individuals in developing life skills and achieving personal goals through structured activities.
- Administer medications as prescribed and monitor clients for any changes in health or behavior.
- Assist with patient monitoring to ensure safety and well-being throughout the day.
- Engage clients in social interactions and recreational activities to promote community involvement.
- Perform heavy lifting as needed to assist clients with mobility or transfers.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment within the home or community setting.
- Document care provided and report any significant changes to supervisors or healthcare professionals.
Skills
- Experience working with individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with group home settings and home community care practices.
- Knowledge of first aid procedures and ability to respond effectively in emergencies.
- Skills in medication administration and understanding of medical protocols related to client care.
- Ability to cook nutritious meals that cater to individual dietary needs.
- Strong patient monitoring skills to observe changes in client conditions effectively.
- Experience in memory care techniques to assist clients with cognitive challenges.
- A background as a nurse or similar healthcare role is an advantage but not required.

Job Type: Contract
Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
