Here is what a great candidate would look like:
LEADING EXCELLENT, ENGAGING WORSHIP
It's important for this Worship Pastor to be a strong Worship Leader. This has a lot to do with musical excellence, talent, and creativity. But also important is the ability to pastor and help people engage. This goes beyond the musical into the skill of uniting a room in corporate worship. Creating highly engaging worship experiences, leading powerful worship, and developing the worship team is the highest priority.
Discovery Church is looking for a vibrant worship culture where the Presence of God is welcomed and experienced.
DEVELOPING LEADERS/RELATIONAL LEADERSHIP
The new Worship Pastor at Discovery is inheriting a great team. This is a close-knit group with a strong culture. While they have been through some leadership transition, the team is excited to partner with a new leader.
That's why this role is a pastoral position - while it's important to drive towards greater excellence, this leader will need to have a passion for pastoring their team and being discipleship-minded.
CREATING WORSHIP CULTURE
Building a worship culture takes time...and Discovery Church is willing to be patient to get there. The church is positioned well with strong leadership and a healthy staff culture. The teams gets along well, trusts one another, and has a great time doing ministry. The soil of the worship ministry is ripe for growth. It just needs a visionary leader who knows how to lead the team into an exciting future, beyond where they currently are.
DEPARTMENT OVERSIGHT
Leading this department is more than just leading worship and leading the worship team. It will also include oversight of the tech aspects of computers, tech, and AVL components. The leader doesn't need to be an expert in all these areas, but have the leadership capacity to lead and motivate others, recruit, problem-solve, and manage details across the creative department effectively.
