POSITION PURPOSE / JOB SUMMARY
- As a valued member of Team SLOCA, the Accounting Assistant performs a wide range of duties to ensure compliance with rules and regulations and sound financial systems and recording.
JOB STRUCTURE AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
- P/T Non-exempt employee
- Accounting Assistant averages 20 hours/week. PTO (1 in 23)
- Accounting Assistant reports to the Finance Manager
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required:
- High School diploma
- 2 years bookkeeping/accounting experience
Preferred:
- College Degree
- Purchasing experience
- Banking experience
- Fluent in Quickbooks
- SLOCA-specific
- A willingness to learn about and support passionately the mission of SLO Classical Academy

- Clear a background check and TB screening

Duties & Responsibilities
Vision-related Responsibilities
- Assist Finance Manager in developing and implementing new accounting systems.
Accounting Responsibilities
- Serve as the main point person for purchasing.
- Assist in the implementation of new accounting processes.
- Track and enter all credit card transactions.
- Assist team members with tracking expenses.
- Assist with monthly reconciliations.
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Input information into Quickbooks.
- Assist in data collection for annual audits.
- Assist with payroll audits.
- Assist with the collections process as needed.
- Verify semi-monthly payroll reports.
- Light filing and archiving of accounting documentation.
- Any other functions not listed above that impact school finances.
- Staff members are expected to adhere to all Administrative Directives as well as any applicable SLOCA Policies including those specifically outlined in the Employee Manual.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds on a limited basis. Able to sit at a desk or in meetings for long periods of time. Able to work irregular hours if needed for meetings, etc.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $19.00 - $20.50 per hour
Expected hours: 20 per week
