POSITION PURPOSE / JOB SUMMARY
- Aides work in partnership with teachers to ensure classroom programs run smoothly and help provide an enriching and safe environment for students in partnership with the teacher and learning leader.
JOB STRUCTURE AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
- Non-Exempt Employee Status
- 18-40 Hours per week (Part time or Full time)
- Reports to Director of Early Childhood; Supervised by Lead Teacher
- Serves as a member of the Early Childhood Team
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Required:
- 2 years experience working with children (classroom experience preferred)
- 2 years experience of direct involvement in student care and discipline
- Experience working in a school setting (preferred)
- CPR Certification
- Obtain certain ECE credits within the first year of employment
- Preferred:
- Technology - Mac literate; knowledge of Word, Excel, Google, etc.
- SLOCA-specific

- Clear a background check and TB screening
- Ability to carry out duties as described below
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- In support of our excellent academic program, the duties and responsibilities of the Teachers Aide include, but are not limited to, the following:
- PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Classroom Support
- Help with check-in and pick-up procedures
- In-class student support, including grid work, homework support, a small group monitoring
- Class activities - lead, direct, organize
- Recess supervision, as required
- Non-Classroom Support
- Attend planning sessions with the team
- Provide feedback to ensure complete communication with parent/guardian
- Provide input to the teaching specialists as required on student progress and/or challenges
- Collaborate with your supervisor on class activities and scheduling
- Substitute Teaching
- Assume the role of substitute teacher during the absence of teaching staff
- Staff members are expected to adhere to all Administrative Directives as well as any applicable SLOCA Policies, including those specifically outlined in the Kindergarten Field Guideand Employee Manual.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds on a limited basis. Able to sit at a desk or in meetings for long periods of time and move about campuses easily. Able to work irregular hours if needed for meetings, etc.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $19.50 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20.0 – 37.5 per week
