What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sushi Chef position at Slurping Turtle?
At Slurping Turtle, we strive to create a fun, team-oriented environment and offer room for growth within the company. We are currently looking for hard working, serious, experienced Sushi Chefs. Our Sushi Chef positions require strong communication skills, an appreciation for great food, and a focus on quality. Being a team player and having a great attitude is a must. Applicants MUST HAVE minimum 4 years of sushi experience in a professional environment; we will not review applications without sushi experience.
The position will require the following abilities:
- Proper knife skills and usage
- MUST have experience breaking down raw fish and have vendor relations and ordering inventory ability
- Organize, prepare, deliver and display product for functions and pre-shift for and from the Sushi
- Maintaining a clean work environment and uses proper food safety protocol
- Regularly monitoring inventory of food supplies and other products, including ordering handles restocking of ingredients
- Daily communication with the Head Chef and Management
- Hire, train, and manage employees and new hires
- Properly dress and wear a clean uniform
- Ability to work on your feet for long periods of time
- Able to follow direction and execute recipes and daily tasks
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs
- SaveSerf or Food Handling certification preferred but not required
Job Responsibilities:
- Rolling and cutting Maki, making Nigiri, preparing fish for service
- Working and preparing sushi bar for the upcoming shift
- Work as a team member assisting your co-workers to prepare for the upcoming shift
- Cutting, shopping and slicing proteins and vegetables
Must complete a stage shift and display sushi bar experience as a part of the hiring process.
