Job Summary
The Food Safety Manager is a contributing member of Smack Pet Food’s Aberdeeen, South Dakota production facility and as such, participates in all matters related to facility operations including food production and production planning, sourcing and purchasing of raw materials, planning and assisting of finished product to export markets, and leadership that enhances employee engagement.
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum Qualifications:
- 2 years of Food Safety experience. Relevant post-secondary degree in scientific discipline or equivalent education experience.
- Excellent knowledge of regulatory requirements, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). Experience developing and maintaining food safety systems including HACCP and ISO systems.
- Leadership capability to engage employees, create a team environment, drive employee productivity and competence, and achieve department business goals.
- Highly organized and detailed with excellent time management/priority setting skills.
- Proven verbal and written communication skills to communicate one-on-one, in group settings and with customers.
- Proficient skills in Word, Excel, graphing and database programs.
- Problem solver with solid analytical skills and the ability to trouble shoot as the need arises. Makes rational decisions and provides workable solutions. Involves staff in the decision-making process.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
