We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Personal Injury Paralegal to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will assist attorneys in managing personal injury cases, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and deadlines are met. This role requires strong organizational skills, a thorough understanding of legal procedures, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
This position could be parttime or full time.
This position has option for flexible hours to allow for work-life balance.
This position will initially be an in-person position with potential for remote work later.
Please note, compensation will be based on experience.
Duties
- Work directly with attorney to manage personal injury cases from intake to resolution
- Assist attorneys with the preparation of legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
- Manage calendars for court dates, deadlines, and appointments.
- Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, insurance adjusters, and medical providers.
- Draft correspondence
- Order case related documents (Public Records Request, Police reports, etc.)
- Prepare pleadings and judicial council forms
- Prepare discovery responses
- Prepare discovery requests
- Regularly correspond with clients, opposing counsel and Court
- Summarize medical records
- Draft settlement demands
- Electronic filing in California Courts (One Legal)
- Assist in preparing exhibits, witness lists, and deposition materials.
- Manage calendars for court dates, deadlines, and appointments.
Skills
- Prior experience in a Personal Injury firm
- Experience working one-on-one with an attorney, managing case files from intake to resolution.
- Strong legal calendaring skills with knowledge of California court rules.
- Experience ordering and summarizing medical records and bills. (This skill is primarily responsibility of another employee)
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, legal case management software (e.g., Clio, MyCase), and E-filing systems.
- Ability to prepare Summons, Civil Case Cover Sheets, Notices of Deposition, Objections, Demand for Expert Exchange, Response to Demand for IME, Subpoenas and more.
- Experience drafting discovery responses.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Initiative/Problem Solving: Troubleshoot delays with court filings, medical records, and discovery responses.
- Spanish proficiency (Bilingual candidates are highly encouraged to apply).
