The Job:
SmartStart Education seeks a School Front Desk Receptionist to work in a school office Monday through Friday from 7:45am to 2:45pm beginning as soon as possible and ending on June 26, 2025.
Roles & Responsibilities Include:
Greeting and Assisting Visitors
Welcome students, parents, staff, and visitors.
Direct them to the appropriate location or person.
Ensure visitors sign in and follow safety protocols.
Answering and Directing Phone Calls:
Answer incoming phone calls, provide information, and transfer calls to the appropriate staff member.
Take messages when necessary.
Managing Student and Parent Inquiries:
Provide general information about school policies, events, and schedules.
Assist parents with registration, attendance, or other administrative matters.
Scheduling and Appointments:
Schedule appointments for teachers, administrators, or counselors.
Coordinate meetings and events as needed.
Administrative Support:
Perform general office tasks, such as filing, photocopying, and data entry.
Maintain student and staff records as directed.
Maintaining a Safe and Organized Front Office:
Ensure the front desk area is clean and organized.
Monitor the security of the school by maintaining visitor logs and ensuring proper access control.
Assisting with Attendance and Emergency Situations:
Record student attendance and notify teachers or administration of absences.
Handle emergency situations by directing staff and visitors to safety.
Managing School Supplies and Resources:
Keep track of office supplies and ensure they are stocked.
Assist staff with resource requests.
Perform other administrative tasks as assigned by the school administration.
Qualifications:
High school diploma (required); associates or bachelors degree (optional).
Strong communication (verbal and written).
Organizational and multitasking abilities.
Customer service skills.
Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, school management systems).
Attention to detail.
Problem-solving skills.
Customer service or administrative experience.
Experience in a school setting (preferred but not required).
Professionalism, discretion, patience, empathy.
Ability to stand or sit for long periods.
Rate: $18.50 per hour
