Hostler Driver – Tacoma, WA
SmartTalent is seeking to hire a Hostler Driver for one of our clients located in Tacoma, WA. This role is vital in ensuring smooth yard operations by efficiently moving trucks and trailers for loading and unloading. Schedule: Day Shift M-F, 8am-4:30pm
Pay: $20 - $23 DOE
Job Responsibilities:
- Move trailers in and out of dock doors to facilitate loading and unloading.
- Organize and position trailers in the yard for optimal efficiency.
- Report any vehicle maintenance concerns to the appropriate department.
- Operate various types of equipment, including manual transmission vehicles and tire chaining as needed.
- Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal transportation regulations.
- Ensure safe handling and transport of hazardous materials.
- Keep the truck yard clean and free of hazards.
- Verify that each unit is properly secured and sealed.
- Maintain a professional and courteous attitude while interacting with customers and team members.
- Assist with dock operations, including loading and unloading freight when necessary.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of two years of consecutive driving experience.
- Experience operating forklifts (minimum 7,500 lb. vehicle).
- Knowledge of state motor vehicle laws and FMCSA regulations.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in E-commerce logistics.
- Understanding of hazardous materials transportation regulations.
