POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking 2 permanent, experienced, Hostlers for a fast-growing warehouse and logistics company based within and near the Port of Tacoma, WA.
Hostler Responsibilities:
· Operate tractor-trailer equipment in compliance with D.O.T. regulations, both on and off company property, to facilitate docking, loading, and unloading of products.
· Regularly communicate with warehouse and transportation staff to ensure proper trailer drop-and-hook locations.
· Inspect and monitor tractor-trailers for defects
· Wash and sweep out trailers if needed, and chock wheels once trailers are properly docked. Follow the AIR LINE LOCK procedure for each trailer.
· Park tractor-trailers in designated areas, maintain cleanliness in the yard, and adhere to company safety standards and regulations.
· Consistently wear and properly maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE). Promptly report workplace risks, incidents, injuries, or near-misses.
· Safeguard sensitive and proprietary business information, protect company assets, and ensure compliance with quality and performance standards.
· Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Employment Requirements:
· 2–3 years of tractor-trailer driving experience, including hauling sea containers, backing, and parking.
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Valid Washington State driver’s license with a clean driving record.
· Proficient in using a tablet or Apple iPad to record cargo movements.
· Must be able to meet turn KPI’s for switching and moving trailers.
· Strong verbal and written English skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with drivers, warehouse personnel, customers, and supervisors to maintain positive customer relations.
· Ability to stand, walk and repeatedly climb into and out of road or switch trailers; Safely operate equipment in extreme weather and climatic conditions.
· Flexible to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
· Strong organizational skills and ability to follow processes, record data accurately, and complete standard warehouse forms for reconciling inbound and outbound shipments.
· Maintain a positive work attitude and demeanor in a team environment.
· Punctual, reliable, and respectful in interactions with colleagues and customers.
· Adherence to all safety protocols and requirements.
Preferred Employee Requirements:
· A current Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), and a DOT Medical Certification card.
· A minimum of 2 years of experience operating as a Hostler in warehouse and cargo terminal/yard operations.
· General knowledge of transloading, multi-DC customer operations, supply chain processes, and general warehouse workflows is a plus.

· Must be able to work effectively for the duration of scheduled shift.
· Must have tolerance for exposure to hot and cold temperature variance.
· Will be required to climb onto or into equipment, trailers, etc. to operate, pull, or verify product, and load or unload trailers.
· Must continuously use vision, balance, and hearing.
· Should be mobile and able to walk; may be required to access the yard which spans multiple acres of property.
