Job Summary: The Mold Technician Level Three is responsible for all aspects of the injection molding process to produce various products.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for molding machine set-up, troubleshooting, equipment maintenance and work flow including auxiliary equipment as related to the molding process.
- Works with Quality Assurance and Tool Room to ensure molded components meet requirements, making adjustments as required.
- Responsible for proper handling, analysis and care of all materials, molds and tooling.
- Follows established procedures and documentation in order to maintain a clean and organized environment.
- Monitors the process, start-up and shut-down of assigned jobs. Follows schedule and maintains machines running at documented cycle.
- Performs machine shut-down tasks and completes line clearance activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications:
- A high school diploma / GED and a minimum of 2 years of experience in injection molding setup and processing.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong technical and mechanical background.
- Strong understanding of Process and Mold Development.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to meet the qualifications of SMC’s Mold Technician Level 2 requirements.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Knowledge of, and experience with Process Monitoring DAQ systems.
ADA Requirements:
- Stand, walk, bend, squat, twist, reach or otherwise move frequently
- Occasional repetitive motion and grasping
- Occasional climbing to reach areas on machines or racks
- Lift, move or otherwise transfer up to 50 lbs. occasionally, >20 lbs. frequently
- Typically sits, grasps items or performs keyboarding for occasional operation of a computer
- Exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards which may require respiratory protection
