What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mold Technician position at Vital Plastics, Inc.?
Position Purpose: The Molding Technician performs duties to set up and cycle a variety of Plastic Injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment. They make process adjustments to ensure proper function and quality of parts.
Set-Up and Process Jobs:
- Follow all Molding Work Instructions (MWI) Including; prints, specifications, and shop orders
- Installation and removal of molds in the injection molding machine
Setup and Process jobs to Master Cycle
- Set up and adjust auxiliary equipment, and robots to achieve proper assembly, product containment, and product packaging
- Make machine adjustments, including heat, injection pressure, and cycle times for wide range of plastic engineering materials to ensure proper quality and function of parts
- Troubleshoot molding problems
- Solve process problems such as flash, short shots, quality of parts
- Document all in process changes using the work center log within Delmiaworks (IQMS) ERP System
- Enter Master Cycle back into Quick Inspect
- Change over jobs, enter rejects/downtime, verify BOMs
- Ensure part/material containment measures are implemented
- Use personal computer, dial/digital calipers, gauges, hand tools, hand/power lift trucks, and overhead cranes
- Inform Tooling Management of any problematic tools or damage through the Tool Work Order System
- Inform Maintenance of an press issues through Maintenance Request Order (MRO) SystemQuality:
- Responsible for part quality associated to their set up and processing parameters
- Visually check all product for quality defects every 2 Hours
- Communicate with Manufacturing personnel of any defects or concerns with product and document on Visual Log
- Ability to perform Function Checks and enter in Delmiaworks (IQMS) ERP System
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis of factors affecting overall product quality
- Identify Continuous Improvement ideas associated within daily duties and overall cell performance
Material Handling:
- Occasionally empty grinders and fill presses with material per Molding Work Instructions (MWI)
- Occasionally Clean Loaders, Dryers, Grinders and Stage Material as needed
Packaging & Sorting:
- Occasionally fan sort product for quality defects
- Occasionally package and label parts per Molding Work Instructions (MWI)
- Occasionally document all box overages and enter them in Delmiaworks (IQMS) ERP System
- Occasionally make date codes and product labels
Cleanliness:
- Keep Work Area Clean per Company Housekeeping Standards
