Schedule: Monday 9am-2pm Tuesday-Friday 4am-2pm (could be subject to change to accommodate departmental needs)
Job Summary: The Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of delivery operations, including route optimization, driver management, fleet maintenance, and communication with internal teams. This role ensures efficient, timely, and cost-effective delivery services while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
· Route & Fleet Management:
- Optimize delivery routes to reduce the hours of service (HOS) for troubled routes.
- Track and analyze delivery stops and times to enable efficient route changes.
- Review vehicle fleet performance and manage truck breakdowns, roadside assistance, and maintenance coordination.
- Assess fuel usage, manage fuel cards, and transition to strict fuel card usage.
· Driver Management & Training:
- Oversee driver training, onboarding, and road testing (recording in Paylocity).
- Conduct driver meetings quarterly and implement ongoing coaching and disciplinary actions.
- Track and enforce driver uniform policies.
- Ensure drivers comply with DOT requirements across all locations (MD, PA, VA, and NC).
- Manage driver audits and error reporting.
- Check in with drivers during their route to ensure route completion and re-enforce a positive driver/delivery culture
· Delivery Operations & Coordination:
- Communicate delivery changes to Customer Service (CS) and management (route changes, driver availability, vehicle issues, etc.).
- Coordinate daily re-deliveries and manage extra pickups from the Purchasing team.
- Handle escalated calls related to driver complaints.
- Oversee delivery payroll, journal entries, and PTO requests in Paylocity.
- Ensure delivery schedules are updated daily and communicated weekly.
- Audit returning drivers to ensure all returns are properly accounted for.
- Ability to lead our “Home Delivery” team of 20-30 people.
· Communication & Compliance:
- Maintain open communication with drivers to address concerns and prevent operational issues.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the SMC maintenance shop and the delivery department.
- Handle vehicle accident reports and insurance claims.
- Handle citations/moving violations from the delivery department staff.
- Ensure drivers are informed of any new product changes to prevent delivery errors.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Proven experience in delivery operations, logistics, or fleet management.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in route planning and optimization.
- Experience with driver training, auditing, and compliance enforcement.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and fleet maintenance best practices.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., Paylocity, routing systems).
- Clean driving history and able to obtain and maintain a DOT medical card.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a high-volume delivery environment.
- Knowledge of fuel management systems.
- Previous experience handling insurance claims and compliance reporting.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
