Description

Responsible for planning, managing, and evaluating group operations to ensure operational excellence in client project execution and alignment with business growth strategies.

This role focuses on managing daily operations, formulating policies, and optimizing the use of resources to improve the performance, productivity, efficiency, and profitability of consulting operations.

In addition, the Operations Manager, Talent and Workforce Services supports workforce development projects, advises clients, and collaborates on the creation of project deliverables. This position also plays a key role in advancing industry thought leadership and delivering sustainable learning, development, and qualification programs.

MAJOR FUNCTIONS :

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high performing, engaged team to achieve operational excellence and support the organization's objectives.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and collaboration among team members.
  • Develop annual performance goals, metrics, and development plans for team members; track progress and conduct regular performance reviews.
  • Report on team performance against established objectives, identifying successes and areas for improvement to inform future strategies.
  • Allocate resources efficiently and recommend staffing adjustments based on business demand.
  • Collaborate with the Director to implement long-term workforce strategies and ensure alignment with SME's mission
  • Conduct analyses to define clients' workforce development needs, creating actionable plans that demonstrate ROI for recommended interventions.
  • Drive the team's success in meeting annual financial goals.
  • Oversee project costs, resource performance, and customer satisfaction through regular reviews
  • Ensure compliance with project contracts and executed statements of work and invoicing schedules.
  • Manage subcontractor engagement and performance to uphold high standards of service delivery.
  • Develop, implement, and ensure the consistent adoption of group policies and processes.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination between corporate and workforce sales teams and the Talent and Workforce Services team.
  • Support business development efforts by developing proposals, evaluating third-party partnerships, and coordinating consultant support.
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure adherence to group quality standards.
  • Manage MS Teams sites and maintain corporate reference information.
  • Represent Tooling U-SME as a learning and development expert at events (SME and other).
  • Collaborate with manufacturing organizations to improve workforce performance through competency assessments, learning program development, and curriculum delivery.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :

  • Bachelor's degree in business, learning and development, education, instructional design, or a related field required.
  • 8-10 years of relevant work experience, preferably in workforce development, learning services, or consulting.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and mentoring team members, fostering engagement, accountability, and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Proven ability to set annual performance goals, track progress, and conduct performance evaluations to align with organizational objectives.
  • Strong track record of building high-performing teams, developing talent, and addressing performance gaps through constructive feedback and professional development.
  • Experience with manufacturing environments and understanding processes, with the ability to address workforce challenges through tailored learning and development programs.
  • Proven ability to manage contracts, budgets, and financial performance.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a detail-oriented and adaptable approach.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, concise documentation, reports, and presentations.
  • Effective organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and collaboration tools (e.g., MS Teams).
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and capable of thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • WORKING CONDITIONS :

  • Normal office environment
  • Regular, in-person attendance required
  • Primary office location : Southfield, MI
  • Travel required - up to 30%
  • Exposure to manufacturing customer production environments, which may include noise, machinery, and varying temperatures.
  • Frequent walking on shop floors and standing for extended periods while observing production processes or conducting assessments.
  • Must adhere to all client safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, ear protection, and steel-toed shoes, as required on-site.
