What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kitchen Support/Customer Service position at Smelly Cat Coffee House & Roastery?
Smelly Cat Coffee House & Roastery in Charlotte, NC is looking for two kitchen support/customer service people who enjoy the variety of both front of house and back of house. We are located on 514 E 36th St. Our ideal candidates are attentive, punctual, reliable and team oriented. Please apply only if you are able to commit to at least 6 months, ask for no time off during that time period in order to allow those who have been working, have their time off. Once co-workers with more seniority have had their time off, then you will be able to request time off.
Responsibilities
- Kitchen support includes following the lead baker in creating house made biscuits for our breakfast sandwiches, breakfast burritos, baking our from scratch baked goods, and house made syrups.
- Learn proper food storage, kitchen clean up including dishes, trash, compost and total kitchen sanitizing.
- Customer service includes welcoming demeanor to our regular customers as well as many tourists. Being knowledgeable of Smelly Cat Coffee's history, unique coffee roasting profiles, and drink/food options.
Qualifications
- Baking: some professional and/or home baking
- Experience in customer service
- 1 year experience with a prior employer
- minimum 30 hour weekly availability
- Available to commit 6 months minimum to the position
- Be able to lift 25 lbs
- Able to move quickly in tight spaces
- Flexibility for working some days in kitchen and some as customer service with the opportunity to learn how to be a barista.
