As an oral surgery care coordinator your primary responsibility will be to coordinate patient care throughout the entire oral surgery process, from initial pre-screening to post-operative follow-up. This role requires a blend of excellent organizational skills, strong communication abilities, and a compassionate approach to patient care.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday 7:15am-5:00pm and one Saturday a month 7:30am-1:00pm
1. Patient Scheduling and Coordination:
- Schedule patient appointments for pre-screening, surgeries, and follow-up visits.
- Coordinate with the oral surgeons, other health professionals, and support staff to ensure a smooth patient experience.
2. Patient Communication:
- Provide clear and comprehensive information to patients regarding their oral surgery procedures, including pre-operative and post-operative instructions.
- Address patient inquiries, concerns and provide support throughout the treatment process.
3. Insurance Verification and Billing:
- Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain pre-authorization for oral surgery procedures.
- Work closely with billing and administrative staff to ensure accurate and timely processing of insurance claims.
4. Medical Records Management:
- Maintain and update patient medical records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Collaborate with the oral surgeons and administrative team to organize and manage patient documentation.
5. Pre-operative Preparation:
- Assist in preparing patients for surgery by explaining pre-operative instructions, obtaining necessary paperwork, and ensuring all required tests are completed.
6. Post-operative Follow-up:
- Conduct follow-up communications with patients to monitor their recovery progress and address any concerns or complications.
- Schedule post-operative appointments and assist in coordinating additional care if needed.
7. Collaboration with Healthcare Professionals:
- Foster effective communication and collaboration with oral surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare providers involved in the patient’s care.
8. Patient Education:
- Educate patients on oral surgery procedures, potential risks, and the importance of post-operative care.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in healthcare administration preferred.
- Previous experience in a healthcare or dental office setting, with specific experience in oral surgery coordination preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of insurance verification and billing processes.
- Proficient in using office software and electronic medical records systems.
