Job Summary
The Import Specialist plays a crucial role in managing and facilitating the importation of goods, ensuring compliance with regulations and optimizing supply chain processes. The Import Specialist will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure timely and efficient movement of goods across international borders.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee the import process from start to finish, ensuring adherence to all regulatory requirements.
- Manage relationships with NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier) providers and 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) partners to optimize transportation logistics.
- Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS) to track shipments, manage inventory levels, and analyze data for continuous improvement.
- Conduct data analysis to identify trends in import activities and propose strategies for cost reduction and efficiency enhancements.
- Collaborate with procurement teams to ensure timely sourcing of materials while maintaining compliance with import regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of all import transactions, including documentation for customs clearance.
- Assist in the development and implementation of inventory control processes to minimize discrepancies and improve accuracy.
- Stay updated on changes in trade regulations, tariffs, and compliance requirements affecting imports.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in transportation management or supply chain operations is preferred.
- Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) is a plus.
- Strong data analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex information effectively.
- Knowledge of inventory control practices and procedures.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with internal teams and external partners.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making within the scope of import operations.
