What are the responsibilities and job description for the Procurement Intern position at Smith & Associates?

Since our founding in 1984, Smith has grown exponentially to source, inspect and distribute electronic components for an array of industries (automotive, solar, medical devices, oil and gas, etc) as well as provide supply chain solutions such as counterfeit testing, vendor inventory management and sustainable hardware disposition. Internships are Monday through Friday for 40 hours a week. Our Procurement Intern is involved in the procurement of electronic components being sourced around the world alongside our global team. Giving them exposure to different commodities and their process of getting to their end destinations of computers, vehicles, medical devices and so much more.

Responsibilities
- Monitor market pricing and adjust prices according to designated profit margin
- Strengthen relationships with vendors to ensure best pricing, lead times, etc
- Learn the semiconductor ecosystem (ODM, OEM, EMS, franchised distributors, brokers, etc) through identifying potential suppliers
- Navigate the CRM to source, negotiate and expedite purchase orders (POs)
- Pursuing a bachelor’s in business, sales, industrial distribution or a related field
- Participation in extracurricular activities to demonstrate time management and multitasking skills
