Description
As a Project Coordinator, you will facilitate the creation of drawings for the production of precast products while working collaboratively with Sales, Engineers, Project Managers, Contractors, Architects, and Owners to support the scope of work and resolve issues. They will report to the Design and Drafting Manager.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of Smith Midland Corporation products and processes, including understanding the complete project timeline from Sales through Design into Production and ending with Erection. Maintains expertise in SMC Layouts and Piece Tickets, including standard nomenclature and annotation.
- Provides checking and recommends actions that aid in constructability and erectability of precast products through drawings and communication.
- Demonstrates competency in multiple design software platforms including AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office, utilizing them effectively for daily operations and customer solutions. Fully interprets contract drawings including Structural, Architectural, and MEP packages.
- Competently navigates through design software and provides aid in drafting when needed. Interprets design intent and offers direction to drafters as needed.
- Anticipates and identifies potential problems, seeking out issues proactively and recommending courses of action that minimize company risk.
- Communicates early and often with other departments to raise awareness and harness solutions. Completes the feedback loop by staying involved through project completion to continuously improve problem areas.
- Defines project timelines and works to uphold milestone dates in collaboration with drafting and engineering teams. Provides realistic project design timelines and communicates design team needs to other departments.
- Negotiates schedules and allocates resources to adhere to committed dates. Maintains strict adherence to production dates and demonstrates reliability through excellent attendance and on-time completion of scheduled tasks.
- Generates realistic goals and communicates early when schedules are off track or when there is down time, enabling effective resource reallocation.
- Creates positive interactions and nurtures a team environment with a constructive attitude. Maintains awareness of team morale and promotes positivity while praising effort.
- Communicates clearly and directly while maintaining cooperative relationships within and outside of the organization. Identifies opportunities to raise awareness for achievements and seeks common ground for collaboration toward shared goals.
Qualifications
- Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field
- Technical certification in AutoCAD, Revit, or related design software preferred
- Experience
- 5 years of experience in precast concrete design or related construction industry
- Proven track record of successful project coordination and team leadership
- Demonstrated experience with construction documentation and drawing review
