Smith, Welch, Webb and White, LLC, currently has an opening for a Paralegal in our Jackson office. The ideal candidate must have a minimum of three years of litigation experience as a legal assistant or paralegal with emphasis on Estate and Probate law. This position is full-time, benefits eligible position and the hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Requirements:
- Ability to draft pleadings, discovery documents, letters and witness affidavits.
- Must be excellent with time management including adherence to deadlines for litigation,
depositions, and trial dates.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to receive and draft responses to all types of inquiries; relay or respond to messages;
process walk-ins and retrieve files upon requests.
- Manage client files, obtain investigative information, organize information and prepare demand
packages.
- Transcribe correspondence and recorded statements.
- Must be self-motivated.
- Ability to manage and prioritize caseload in accordance to attorney needs.
- Must be proficient with computer and various operating systems including:
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Internet
- Can do attitude.
- Must be able to type a minimum of 65 wpm.
- Ability to bill paralegal time.
Preferable Qualifications:
- Experience with Lexis and Westlaw
Requirements/Education:
Three years’ experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal
Associate Degree
Paralegal Certificate or Degree Preferred
Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
