About the Role:
The Senior Project Manager is a pivotal technical role tasked with driving high-impact programs and projects to successful completion. This position ensures seamless alignment with business objectives, defined scope, schedules, budgets, and stakeholder satisfaction. Reporting directly to the Vice President of the Project Management Office, the Senior Project Manager is also responsible for ensuring adherence to all relevant policies, laws, and regulations. This role requires a dynamic individual with a deep understanding of project management methodologies, strong interpersonal skills, and a passion for continuous improvement in a collaborative, results-focused environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex programs and projects, including high-impact system and product conversions, from planning through execution, ensuring adherence to scope, quality, time, cost, and stakeholder expectations.
- Develop and maintain project charters, project management plans, schedules, risk registers, budgets, and project assets in Project Management information system.
- Ensure projects meet business objectives, regulatory requirements and stakeholder expectations.
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks while resolving issues efficiently.
- Manage change requests, ensuring project scope remains aligned with business goals. Collaborate with executives, business unit leaders, vendors and cross-functional teams to drive project success.
- Provide clear and consistent reporting to stakeholder, including executive leadership.
- Lead project meetings, ensuring effective communication and decision-making.
- Guide, mentor, and support less experienced project managers, fostering a high-performance environment that enhances project management skills and team capability.
- Champion best practices in project management, aligning with industry standards (PMBOK, Agile, etc.).
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including executive leadership, department heads, and external partners.
- Act as a point of contact for project-related inquiries and concerns, facilitating effective communication across all levels of the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field; or equivalent education and related experience.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent is required.
- Minimum 7 years project management experience in a financial institution is required, with at least 4 of those years leading large, complex programs and projects.
- Proven track record of successfully managing multiple large-scale projects and programs with competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
- Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor a diverse team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on results and continuous improvement.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Smartsheet)
- Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to project management.
- Ability to navigate change and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to uploading value of the credit union.
