SUMMARY: The Maintenance Technician is responsible for preventative maintenance and breakdown repair of production and building equipment.  The person also participates in both the planning for and installation of new equipment and helps identify and implement continuous improvement ideas to improve the effectiveness of production processes and building systems. 


 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Repair broken equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance 
  • Install new equipment
  • Modify existing equipment
  • Participate in teams planning for new equipment
  • Suggest improvements to preventive maintenance plans
  • Inspect equipment to identify proper operation and detect developing failures
  • Utilize computer systems to open and close maintenance tickets to track progress
  • Participate and coordinate with technicians from other companies, such as electricians and plumbers, on projects
  • Interface with management and purchasing to bring in required spare parts
  • Comply with health and safety policies
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma
  • Degree from a vocational school in robotics or factory controls, or 3 years of robot programming experience
  • 1 or more years of maintenance experience is preferred
  • Understanding of and ability to troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and control systems
  • Knowledge of health & safety practices and regulation
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, electrical and computer-controlled equipment

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIORNMENT:

  • Frequently required to stand and walk
  • Frequently required to sit
  • Frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity
  • Frequently required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl
  • Frequently required to talk or hear
  • Frequently work near moving mechanical parts 
  • Occasionally work in high, precarious places 
  • Occasionally work around fumes, airborne particles, or toxic chemicals 
  • Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions (both weather and non-weather)
  • Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions 
  • Occasional exposure to heat or cold (non-weather)
  • Occasional exposure to blood borne and airborne pathogens or infectious materials
  • While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually very loud
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds manually, and occasionally frequently lift and/or move heavier objects using lifts for cranes
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include: Close vision; Distance vision; Color vision; Peripheral vision; Depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Specialized equipment, machines, or vehicles used:
    • Computers and robots
    • Forklift, Genie lift, Scissor Lift, crane, and other heavy lifting machinery
    • Electrical diagnostic and computer equipment

 Hours:    

Monday-Friday 07:00 AM – 3:30 PM, with a change to 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM anticipated

Occasional Weekend Work

Rare off shift work for emergency responses

 

This position must be on call for night shift on a rotating basis.
