What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Tech position at SmithCo Manufacturing?
SUMMARY: The Maintenance Technician is responsible for preventative maintenance and breakdown repair of production and building equipment. The person also participates in both the planning for and installation of new equipment and helps identify and implement continuous improvement ideas to improve the effectiveness of production processes and building systems.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Repair broken equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance
- Install new equipment
- Modify existing equipment
- Participate in teams planning for new equipment
- Suggest improvements to preventive maintenance plans
- Inspect equipment to identify proper operation and detect developing failures
- Utilize computer systems to open and close maintenance tickets to track progress
- Participate and coordinate with technicians from other companies, such as electricians and plumbers, on projects
- Interface with management and purchasing to bring in required spare parts
- Comply with health and safety policies
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma
- Degree from a vocational school in robotics or factory controls, or 3 years of robot programming experience
- 1 or more years of maintenance experience is preferred
- Understanding of and ability to troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and control systems
- Knowledge of health & safety practices and regulation
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, electrical and computer-controlled equipment

Monday-Friday 07:00 AM – 3:30 PM, with a change to 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM anticipated
