Some Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Facilities Engineering Technician include (but are not limited to):
- Program automation and controls systems involving PLC’s (Logix 5000, RS Logix 500), and HMI’s (FactoryTalk View).
- Assist with manufacturing improvements (design and implementation)
- Coordination with manufacturing personnel (Supervision, Production Mgmt., Foaming, Production Technical Coordinator)
- Suggests and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product while recommending changes in working conditions and modifications to machines and equipment for optimum efficiencies, including new product introductions
- Redesign and upgrade electrical panels to improve equipment efficiencies.
- Troubleshoots and repairs, mechanical and electrical, designs and implementation, as needed
- Including but not limited to cleaning, lubricating, assembly/disassembly, adjustments
- Updates and prepares CAD drawings for projects, drawing, maintaining and organizing. (Includes electrical, mechanical, pneumatic). Upgrades blueprints.
- Uses calipers, micrometers, multimeter, and other calibrated measuring tools.
- Purchases maintenance, mechanical and electrical, supplies and tooling.
- Designs and implements mechanical and electrical panel drawings.
- Attend appropriate/required educational training programs.
- Maintains a clean and safe work area, in accordance with established safety and cleaning procedures.
- Participates in and supports Smithers-Oasis continuous improvement activities.
- Supports and leads by example, the Core Values of the organization.
- Performs other facility/maintenance/manufacturing functions as required.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- High School Diploma required, minimum.
- At least 5 years facility/maintenance in a manufacturing setting, and hands-on equipment repair, electrical/mechanical, machining knowledge, and engineering techniques.
- CAD and/or Inventor. Experience of 5 years, minimum.
- Use of Microsoft Suite Package.
- Allen Bradley PLC experience required.
- Familiarity with NFPA, OSHA, and Electrical standards and how to interpret them.
- Must also be able to perform basic math calculations.
- Must be a self-starter and work under little direction.
- Ability to lift, carry and handle objects weighing 50-to-100 pounds. Climbing ladders and working in confined spaces is required.
- Ability to operate aerial platform equipment, working at a high height.
- Maintain a high-level of Confidentiality specifically relating to all manufacturing and foam process information.
- Oral Communication - Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, listens and gets clarification and responds well to questions.
- Writes clearly and informatively.

- HOURS: Typical full-time 1st shift hours are Monday through Thursday from 6:30am to 4:30pm. Overtime hours will be required based on business needs.

The pay range for this position is $29.95 to $35.20 per hour.
