North Providence Public Schools is seeking to hire a Behavioral Specialist for Whelan Elementary School. Rate : $25 per hour Hours : 7.5 hours per day / 37.5 hours per week Days : Monday - Friday / School Year Only / Summer and School Recesses Off Position Summary : Support the implementation of a comprehensive school-wide approach to social emotional learning and health by : collaborating with teachers, parents, administrators, and other school personnel to address student behavior; collecting and using behavioral data effectively; developing effective behavior support plans for students; supporting case management, behavior strategies, and interventions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities : 1. Facilitate the development and implementation of functional behavior assessments, behavior intervention plans and crisis plans for identified students. 2. Provide constructive feedback regarding student behavior with teachers, clinical and other support staff. 3. Track student progress; develop a data system to collect and summarize behavioral data. 4. Maintain records of students' reports, services provided and behavioral data. 5. Measure goals and objectives of behavior support plans to ensure they are being met. 6. Continually improve positive, non-threatening approaches to behavior management and discipline. 7. Support the implementation of research based methods of classroom management and behavioral strategies. 8. Serve as a resource / consultant to classroom teachers and other school personnel. 9. Collaborate with therapists, classroom teachers and special subject teachers to implement an integrated educational model. 10. Complete all reporting requirements as mandated by the school, state, federal, and educational agencies. 11. Attend classroom, team, and IEP meetings, to coordinate and implement behavioral interventions. 12. Continue to strengthen practice through participation in ongoing workshops, seminars, conferences, and / or advanced coursework. 13. Coordinate between teachers and parents to implement behavioral interventions. 14. Communicate with parents and case managers in regards to students' progress. 15. Analyze behavioral interventions to determine success. 16. Assist students in identifying inappropriate behaviors and develop better behavior alternatives. 17. Monitor and adjust programs designed for each student. 18. Demonstrate professionalism in / outside agency 19. Perform other duties as assigned.
