Description: The Smithfield (SHA) Housing Authority is seeking highly qualified and experienced applicants for the position of Executive Director. The Executive Director is responsible for the management of 50 units of elderly housing and 53 Housing Choice Vouchers. Will also serve as Executive Director of Gemini Housing Corporation, an affiliated nonprofit entity consisting of 45 202 units and 42 LIHTC units as well as an active development pipeline.
Required Minimum Qualifications: 5 years’ experience in public or affordable housing, community development, public administration, non-profit administration, or a closely related field that demonstrates strong management and organizational skills. A thorough knowledge of FAIR HOUSING laws and their applicability. Demonstrated effective leadership and industry business skills. At least three years supervisory experience of a staff of 2 or more is required. Excellent written and verbal skills necessary to effectively communicate with staff, local officials, boards, residents, service providers, and funding agencies. Knowledge, experience and understanding of the affordable housing development process required. Understanding and experience with reporting requirements of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development preferred.
Working knowledge of fiscal management, maintenance systems, personnel, administrative management, capital improvement planning, and technology systems in public or private housing is recommended. Working knowledge of local, state, and federal governmental procedures and regulations as they relate to housing development, construction and the management of housing operations are preferred. Experience working with people and families of various ages and socio-economic backgrounds and a passion for the mission of affordable housing and its residents is advantageous.
Public Housing Manager (PHM) by a nationally recognized housing or real estate organization is required within the first year of employment if not present on hire. Diverse applicants are encouraged to apply. Bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited college or university is required.
