Job Description

The Learning and Development Manager plans, develops, implements, and administers development and training programs for company employees. The manager also acts as a liaison and advisor to the organization's leadership and facilitates initiatives across the organization. This position assesses company-wide developmental needs to drive training initiatives and identifies and arranges suitable employee training solutions. This position actively searches, creatively designs, and implements effective teaching methods to enhance performance.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Directs the needs assessment for training and staff development to enhance the effectiveness of employee performance in achieving the goals and objectives of the company.
  • Identifies and incorporates best practices and lessons learned into program plans.
  • Designs and develops HR training programs for management and employees.
  • Develops learning activities, audio-visual materials, instructor guides and lesson plans.
  • Reviews evaluations of training courses, objectives and accomplishments.
  • Support leaders with Succession and employee development plans
  • Makes assessments of effectiveness of training in terms of employee accomplishments and performance.
  • Presents course materials.
  • Consults with management on performance, organizational and leadership matters.
  • Conducts needs assessments to determine measures required to enhance employee job performance and overall company performance.
  • Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.
  • Works effectively as a team member with other members of management and the HR staff.
  • Other duties assigned

A Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) credential is preferred.

SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP)or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential preferred .

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals, and standard operating procedures
  • Proficient in MS Office software to include Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint

    Salary & Benefits

    The compensation for this position ranges from $50,617.00 - $151,851.00 / yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills, job-related knowledge, and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions. Smiths Detection provides comprehensive benefits including healthcare, 401K savings plan, company holidays, vacation, sick time, parental leave and an employee assistance program.
