Job Description

This position will support the Edgewood Quality Team. This role will be providing quality support for the assigned product (s) or areas of responsibilities. This role will support the testing of materials used in the manufacturing process and for the preparation of solutions used in those products. This role will also support data analysis and monitoring and reporting of nonconforming materials.

Job duties to include but are not limited to;

  • Test new and raw materials and products before introduction into production processes, according to established written work instructions
  • Test Consumables products post-production according to established written work instructions
  • Prepare solution needed to support post-production testing
  • Document and maintain accurate test results, ensure product is appropriately staged for delivery or quarantined if nonconforming
  • Participate in troubleshooting product and process issues
  • Follow company policies and legislative requirements regarding health and safety including usage, care and storage of personal protective equipment
  • Interact with Quality Engineers and other team members within Clean Room, Production, Materials and Consumables teams and keeps them up-to-date regarding quality control issues and results
  • Perform data analysis and reporting of factory and supplier performance. Identify improvement targets to the Quality Engineering team
  • Maintain PowerBI dashboards to ensure data is current. Identify and work to correct data errors and omissions
  • Identify potential improvements to nonconformance data collection
  • Monitor and report out on nonconforming material inventory to ensure items are processed in a timely manner. Ensure material movements in and out of this inventory are controlled
  • Assist with development of work instructions to document key processes
  • Ensure pipettes, balances and other laboratory equipment are calibrated according to established written work instructions
  • Maintain 5S practices. Participate / facilitate in LEAN 6 Sigma events.
  • Support key quality and management system processes such as MRB and CAPA
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/training: Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific field of study, or an adequate combination of Education and Experience to effectively perform the job requirements; Degree in Chemistry and related coursework preferred.

Experience: 1 year experience working with chemical solvents in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Knowledge/skills:

  • Strong math and analytical data analysis skills and analytical approach.
  • Knowledge/Experience in calibration and usage of chemical laboratory equipment and solutions preparation
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and internet
  • Knowledge of health and safety issues relating to laboratory work including general health and safety rules, hazard identification, OSHA and safe work practices
  • Ability to follow written work instructions and test procedures.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, as well as in a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with changing demands and conflicting deadlines
  • Experience with, and good knowledge of ISO 9001 or higher
  • Excellent oral and written communications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Background: This position may require Sensitive Security Information (SSI) access and vetting via the TSA. If required, applicant must successfully pass a federal background investigation. This position may require a U.S. Personal Security Clearance.

The compensation for this position ranges from $44,040.00 -$102,760.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills, job-related knowledge, and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions. Smiths Detection provides comprehensive benefits including healthcare, 401K savings plan, company holidays, vacation, sick time, parental leave and an employee assistance program.
