SMJ Studio is a thriving sewing and manufacturing workroom in Ballard with over 32 years in business creating custom, high-end residential and commercial soft goods for the hospitality and interior design industries. We are looking to add a new position to our growing team! As materials coordinator, you will join a team of talented craftspeople in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities where your attention to detail and adaptability will help us continue to deliver exceptional products throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
Job Duties
- Receiving shipments:
o Responsible for processing incoming deliveries, unloading of fabrics, pillow inserts, etc.
o Verify goods received against packing slips and internal records to ensure accuracy of shipments.
o Inspect incoming goods for damage or defects and communicate findings to vendors and SMJ team.
o Label and store items received in shipments in designated locations.
- Sending shipments:
o Package and label outbound shipments for delivery.
o Coordinate with shipping carriers to schedule pickups.
o Verify shipping addresses and provide tracking numbers for outgoing shipments.
- Inventory:
o Stock and catalog inventory based on per project analysis.
o Maintain clean and organized inventory storage areas.
o Communicate items running low that need to be ordered.
- Other:
o Coordinates and prepares all materials for on-site installations.
o Perform local deliveries and pickups in company vehicle.
o Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to walk, stand, or kneel for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds often, more with assistance.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to read and write in English.
- Proficient with computers; email internally with team and externally with clients and vendors, update spreadsheets, print shipping labels, schedule shipment pickups through online accounts.
- Experience with power tools and table saws a plus.
- Strong attention to detail: ability to audit documents to goods with incoming and outgoing orders and while maintaining inventories; verifying addresses when shipping.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure with often changing priorities and deadlines.
- Valid WA driver’s license with clean driving record to be insured while driving company vehicle.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
